Hal (Jack Black) is a man who strictly follows the advice of his father and is only interested in women who have a perfect physique. But everything changes when he meets by chance Anthony Robbins, a self-help guru who hypnotizes and makes it just can see the inner beauty of women, rather than his physique. Without knowing what is under the influence of hypnosis, Hal then falls in love with Rosemary (Gwyneth Paltrow), an obese woman who is seen by him like a true goddess. Until, after withdrawal of hypnosis by his friend Mauricio (Jason Alexander), he comes to see Rosemary as it is physically real and must make a decision about her relationship with her.
