S P A R TA C US

To try to circumvent the problems involving a historical adaptation, the producers chose to take liberties to tell the story of the series. Thus, the plot follows the soldier Thracian Spartacus (Andy Whitfield) who is sentenced to death in an arena after defying the command of Claudius glaber (Craig Parker, The Lord of the Rings). As predicted by Spartacus (and ignored by glaber), the village where he lived the Thracian is attacked by barbarians, and there is no Roman man or around to defend it. In an act of rebellion Spartacus returns home to rescue his wife from certain death, fleeing with her soon after, fearing reprisal from glaber. But this does not delay, and Spartacus is captured and taken as a slave, Sura same fate as his wife, separated from him to be sold to merchants Syrians. To be played to death in the arena for the amusement of the mob, he surprises everyone and wins the battle, killing four gladiators, showing that will not die until he rediscovered his wife. After the "show", Spartacus is bought by Batiatus (John Hannah, The Mummy trilogy), which aims to profit from her new slave and placing it in the fighting arenas. However, the trainer of gladiators Doctor (Peter Mensah, 300), disapproves of the idea of Spartacus as a gladiator, as he is driven by revenge. In several episodes that follow is emphasized that the willpower Sura inspired by Spartacus, giving him strength to face the horrors they are subjected for not wanting to follow the orders of his new Dominus.

Spartacus: Blood and Sand, who still brings Lucy Lawless (Xena) in its cast, promises 13 episodes full of action, blood and lust. Also promises to have sex scenes never before produced on TV. Even before its premiere, Spartacus has shown he is here to stay and to the surprise of many, was renewed for a second season, which should be called Spartacus: Vengeance. The renewal was announced recently and shows that the channel is really betting big on plot.
